Construction of a bone marrow report registry using a clinical data warehouse

Abstract

With the exponential increase in the amount of medical records since the introduction of electronic health records (EHR) in the early 2000s and the scattered distribution of medical information in multiple repositories, including the laboratory information system (LIS), electronic medical records (EMR), and EHR, clinical researchers currently struggle to integrate patient data. The creation of a clinical data warehouse (CDW) not only enables the aggregation of untidy data but also helps clinicians to search research ideas and establish clinical cohort.1-3 In addition to CDW usage in the clinical research field, a parallel combination of a CDW with EHR or EMR allows for quality improvement in patient management, insurance systems, and financial accounting in hospitals.
