Maternal and Neonatal Risk Factors Affecting the Occurrence of Neurodevelopmental Disorders: A Population-Based Nationwide Study

Abstract

To investigate the maternal and neonatal risk factors related to pregnancy birth affecting occurrence of neurodevelopmental disorders their children using medical claim data for whole population. The study was conducted on all babies born in Korea from 2005 2009 based National Health Information Database. All records were tracked December 31, 2015. analyze mother, mother newborn collected. Increased age found increase cerebral palsy (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.46) autism spectrum disorder (aOR 1.48), while lowering intellectual disability 1.83) speech language impairment 1.41) compared with reference group aged 25 29 years old. incidence affected by socioeconomic varied according types disorders. Among various factors, prematurity or low weight, problems associated amniotic fluid membrane, preeclampsia eclampsia, cesarean section affect reduce severity disorders, a better understanding is important. results this can be used as basic help such understanding.
