- Objective Over the past decade, growth hormone nadir cut-off during oral glucose tolerance test for remission in patients with acromegaly was changed from 0.4 to 1.0 μg/L due limited use of ultrasensitive detection kits measure levels. However, optimal level remains unclear. This retrospective study aimed investigate association between different cut-offs and prognosis acromegaly. Design Methods A total 285 a glucose-suppressed <1 at 3–6 months after trans-sphenoidal adenomectomy were divided into two groups according levels post-operatively (group A, <0.4 μg/L; group B, 0.4–1.0 μg/L). Growth measured using an immunoradiometric assay. The clinical, hormonal, metabolic, neuroradiological data compared. Results Female sex, as well confirmed macroadenomas, significantly overrepresented B. 5-year rate who achieved GH <1.0 age- sex-matched normal IGF-1 higher than that there no significant difference metabolic parameters 12 post-operatively. Conclusion Different associated rates IGF-1, suggesting strict threshold correlates better remission.
